Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET)
The mandate of the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment & Tourism (LEDET) is to develop the provincial economy and promote and manage environmental and tourism activities. To carry out this mandate, the department pursues the following strategic goals:
To improve service delivery to communities and stakeholders through a skilled, accountable, empowered and integrated Public Service;
To accelerate employment, growth and development;
To promote sustainable development through targeted interventions on environmental management, development of natural resources, creation of green jobs and proactive responses to climate change;
To position Limpopo as a preferred tourism destination within SADC and accelerate transformation of the sector;
To accelerate economic growth and economic transformation.
To fulfil this mandate, the 4 programmes of the department strive to deliver the following services:
Administration – responsible for corporate services, governance, employee wellness and implementation of service delivery improvement plans to ensure effective support services to the core programmes of the department.
Economic Development – promotes trade, investment and business governance and regulation, as well as SMME and cooperative development.
Environment – ensures effective protected areas management and natural resource management.
Tourism – responsible for tourism policy development and positioning the province as a preferred tourism destination.
